WELCOME TO BEHIND THE SCENES AT BLUEPOOL. IN THE MAIN ROLE: PROJECTS THAT REALLY HAVE WHAT IT TAKES.

The narrators: our bluepool employees for whom challenges are like playing Tetris - only when everything fits together can the result be considered perfect.

Create. Achieve. Experience - a triad that stands for the perfect trade fair and event experience for us. Apart from organisation and figures, soft skills are important factors for ensuring the success of an event. And like everywhere else, there are projects that are both unique and challenging. But we would not be bluepool if challenges were not a fact of our everyday working life. With strong nerves, skill and dedication, our employees ensure a happy ending for every project. Because if there is not a happy ending, the project is not yet completed.

PS: Do you know how a heavy diesel engine gets from Augsburg to Hamburg? Mr. Göppel knows:

Behind the scenes at bluepool

German Göppel is an account manager and a long-serving employee at bluepool. For one particular very special project, he had to deal with a real heavyweight. Although it is part of his daily professional life to find solutions for new and unusual tasks, even the best account manager will break out into a sweat from time to time. For example, with 100 tonnes of concentrated power:

German Goeppel
"WHAT WEIGHS 100 TONNES AND ACTUALLY BELONGS IN THE SEA? THE ANSWER IS CLEAR: A SHIP´S ENGINE ON ITS WAY FROM AUGSBURG TO HAMBURG!"

"One of the 'weightiest challenges' we´ve ever had - in the true sense of the word"

For a prestigious trade fair appearance, German Göppel was faced with the challenge of transporting a 16-cylinder ship´s engine from Augsburg to Hamburg in order to showcase it on site.
The special feature: the ship's engine weighed a total of 100 tonnes and had 16 cylinders, each with a diameter of 35 cm. As the preparations progressed, he was confronted with problems regarding traffic regulations or fair facility statics – then it´s not every day that 100 tonnes is transported through Germany, not even for an account manager at bluepool.

Danger, risk of collapse!

"Transporting a heavy load in itself is basically nothing out of the ordinary - unless, of course, there is a risk of bridges collapsing due to the enormous weight.” Loaded with the ship's engine, the 12-axle heavy-duty transporter had to bypass several bridges in order to prevent this risk from becoming reality. Naturally, this cost a lot of time and effort: the transport from Augsburg to Hamburg took a total of 14 days. By comparison: with a normal passenger car, this route would be covered in 7 hours. And that´s not all; due to the size of the transport, numerous road signs had to be removed as the convoy made its way to the final destination.

A foundation to build on

Exhibition floors are accustomed to a lot of things but a ship´s engine is a seldom-seen exhibition piece even at trade fairs. "Faced with the problem that the subsoil was too sandy to support the weight, my next challenge was to design a new base on site", said German Göppel. With the help of a structural engineer, the engine was finally found a safe place on a special foundation.
Assembly of the catalytic converter was carried out with the help of a crane. Incidentally, the engine was so big that a mechanic could climb into it for cleaning operations.

A good appearance – a good end …

Projects such as these highlight human, professional and logistical limitations. But the best part is that they expand and push back these boundaries - because there is always a solution.
"My secret: I combine experience with unlimited curiosity and commitment. My motivation is facing challenges which I transform into a perfect trade show presentation." And German Göppel was not alone: with the bluepool network, he had an enormous manpower capability behind him for this project which comprised of, among other things, fitters, carpenters, graphic designers, mechanics, shippers, crane company – right through to gardening experts. "Teamwork and reliability are the keywords for our work – internally and externally."

Volker Betz
"30 M² OR 2000 M² - EVERY EVENT IS INDIVIDUAL AND EXCITING."

Experiences, like postcard motifs

Volker Betz is team manager of the graphic department. He has been with bluepool for many years. However, one thing that never fades after all these years is the enthusiasm:

Events such as car shows abroad are still a highlight for him as they have always been. "Of course, a 2000 m² event space is a major undertaking - but 30 m² of event space which has been very individually designed is sometimes even more demanding". These ambitious projects have been a challenge for Volker Betz for many years now.

Whether in the Alps or the wide expanses of America, events are created where they serve as perfect experience environments. Exactly for the location - from small and luxurious to big and adventurous.

Local conditions are used to create the perfect effect: the Alps, great scenery as a backdrop for vehicle presentations including culinary delights and catering. It is understandable that one is very proud when both the customers and the world´s press are enthusiastic. Time and again, the biggest challenge is the time factor during the implementation phase because customers' demands are always very high.
